Captain America’s Dancing Girls Dress

Who doesn’t love Captain America? Ok maybe bad guys but these dresses from the WWII USO segment from the First Avenger movie was too cute not to replicate. They were also spotted as part of the movie’s promotional tour with dancers dancing before the film at Comic Con.

The USO Girls from Captain America: The First Avenger on the USS Intrepid

A group of talented ladies on Facebook was kind enough to share their own pattern and fabric choices so we can match and meet at conventions for photo shoots and parades! These ladies truly deserve all the credit for this costume. All I did was sew.

This costume is very fun to wear and i’ve marched with the group at the Dragon*Con parade for a number of year. Yes, we actually march in the parade!

In 2012 I was fortunate to be part of a Dragon*Con Masquerade skit in which we reenacted the USO scene from the movie. We won “Most Patriotic” and got to meet Grant Imanhra from Mythbusters fame! Very awesome for my first Masquerade contest. We also reprised our skit for the Avenger’s Ball at Dragon*Con in 2013 complete with a surprise ending! Love these girls!
